Those who put on their Mizuno, Ecco or Merrell trainers and regularly put themselves through exercise regimes could be influencing their ageing process.
Research from scientists at King’s College London claims that those who prefer to sit at home rather than put on their running shoes could lose out on looking up to ten years younger.
The study, which involved 2,401 twins, examined the length of leukocyte telomeres in white blood cells, which shorten over the course of a lifetime.
According to scientists’ findings, the most active subjects had telomeres that were the same length as more inactive people ten years younger than them.
Commenting on the results, the authors of the report said: “They show that adults who partake in regular physical activity are biologically younger than sedentary individuals.”
If you are looking to undertake more exercise and hopefully gain those extra ten years, then suitable footwear from the likes of Mizuno, Ecco and Keen can be found here at Fitness Footwear.

Shoes from Mizuno, Hi-Tec, Keen and Merrell will be perfect for those computer players looking to lose weight through playing virtual sports games on their Nintendo Wii.
The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) has recognised that playing games on game consoles such as the Nintendo console contributes to the 30 minutes of exercise that people should aim for each day.
A spokesperson for the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) said: “Physiotherapists support the idea of games consoles that encourage players to get up from the sofa and become more active.”
He added that players will have to strap on their exercise shoes, whether they be from Ecco, Merrell or Keen, and warm up before playing the virtual sporting game.
“People should use some appropriate warm-up techniques before playing one of the more demanding sports-based games,” he said.
Recently it was reported on the BBC website that playing on consoles such as the Nintendo Wii can improve a surgeon’s performance in the operating theatre.
If you want to indulge in exercise be it indoors or out you will need suitable footwear, available here from Fitness Footwear.

Runners who were preparing for the Leeds Half Marathon until it was cancelled last week had better dig out their running shoes – whether they be from Mizuno, Ecco, Merrell, or Hi-Tec – as the event is back on.
The council has made an about turn from its decision to cancel the event in favour of concentrating all its resources on the Jane Tomlinson Run For All 10k to be held in June.
However, now the Half Marathon has been re-instated in September expect shoes from the likes of Keen, Merrell and Ecco to descend on Leeds.
Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, councillor John Procter, the council’s executive member for leisure said that the council initially pulled the event due to fears that having two runs so close together would not be in the best interests of the city.
“However, we have listened to the overwhelming response from runners and it is clear that there remains a desire for there to be a Leeds Half Marathon this year,” he said.

“I love running in front of my home crowd and I know that winning for a fourth time will give me just the boost I need before the Olympic Games in August,” she said.
“The London field is always competitive, but that’s what I need to be at my best in Beijing,” Radcliffe added.
The runner took time off last year to give birth to her first child, but then made a remarkable comeback by winning the New York Marathon in November last year.

An athlete doing his best for charity has taken the silliness of the festive season to another level – by undertaking a charity fun run wearing a pair of skis.
The race, sponsored by the trade union Unison, took place in Oxford and featured councillors and staff from both the city council and county council.
Colin May, who works for the county council’s learning disability team, took the fancy dress theme to the next level by donning a pair of skis for the event.
“I’m just going to see how far I can get before I give up, but it’s all for fun,” he told the Oxford Mail.
Charity runs are on across Christmas but usually feature runners wearing beards or reindeer fancy dress rather than ski gear.
