If you’re reading this I assume you are looking for a wetsuit and need a little help, because let’s face it, they are baffling at the best of times, 543? Steamer? Flat Lock? Help!
First things first let’s define “good wetsuit”. A good wetsuit is one that fits your needs and budget. You can very easily over spec and over pay for a wetsuit. Some are designed to keep you warm in the sea in winter or diving in 4 degree water, others are made for messing about in a lake in the summer. So a good wetsuit is one that fits your needs.
What do you need a wetsuit for?
If you’re riding on a ringo behind a friend’s boat on a lake this summer you’ll only need a very basic wetsuit. If you’re going diving in the UK you’ll need a very high spec one. If you’re a wakeboarder and you only ride in spring and summer you won’t need a winter wetsuit. So ask yourself, realistically when are you going to use this suit?
What Thickness?
Wetsuits come in a range of thicknesses, the thicker the warmer. The thicker the suit the more your movement is restricted. You want the thinnest suit you can get away with. Each wetsuit usually has it’s thickness in the product name, i.e. Billabong Foil 543, Billabong is the brand, Foil is the style name and 543, refers to the thickness.
5 = 5mm on the body
4 = 4mm on shoulders and lower back
3 = 3mm on arms and legs
A 543 wetsuit is ideal for winter surfing in the UK or wakeboarding in the winter. A 302 is 3mm on the main body and 2mm on arms and legs, ideal for UK summer surfing.
Style length
I’m sure while looking for a wetsuit you’ll come across many terms, like “steamer” & the more obvious “shorty”. This just refers to how much of your body is covered.
Steamers covers your arms and legs
Spring suit doesn’t cover your arms
Shorty doesn’t cover you arms or legs
Again the wetsuit style you need depends on the conditions you’ll be using it in. A 202 Shorty will be fine for messing about in a lake in the summer, where you in and out of the water a lot. Any type of winter watersport activity you’ll need a steamer.
Wetsuits features
“Flat lock” “Chest zip” & “wrist and ankle gripper”. What do they mean and what benefit is there? A wetsuit works by allowing a thin layer of water to get in-between your suit and your skin, which in turn heats up and keeps you warm. To keep you warm you need to stop fresh cold water getting into the suit and replacing the warm water. All the features you hear about on wetsuits makes sure this doesn’t happen.
The key areas where cold water can get in are…
- Seams
- Cuffs & ankles
- Zips
So the wetsuit industry is forever trying to come up with new ways to prevent that. “Flat lock” is a type of stitching used to prevent water getting in through the seams. It’s a tightly woven stitch, but still makes a hole in the wetsuit material (neoprene). The ideal seams are welded seams, but again depend on where you use it. Summer in a lake, you’re not going to need it.
“Chest zip’s” help by have a short zip on the chest, rather than a long one down your back, the less zip area the less opportunity water has to get in and make you cold.
“Wrist & ankle grippers”, reduce the amount of water of “flush” that goes up your arms and legs, essential if you’re in cold water.
There is a whole array of weird and wonderful wetsuit features out there, which is out of the scope of this guide. Just remember it’s worth having if it keeps cold water out.
Brand, is it important?
You can get a wetsuit from Tesco’s, great for a mess about in the lake. However if you want a pizza would you buy it from Billabong? Only if you had to. Brands like Billabong, Xcel, O’Neill & Gul invest a lot of time and money into making the best suits possible. In fact Jack O’niell of O’niell is credited with inventing the wetsuit.
There is a little bit of extra put on the price for many brands, so it really comes down to the quality and features a suit has to keep you warm that really matters.
Why do I see so many discount wetsuits online?
Many companies use the internet to clear old seasons stock at a discount, they are all great suits just last seasons, so well worth getting, just make sure it’s right for your needs.
Wetsuits & Boardshorts
While we are on the subject of wetsuits, it’s not acceptable to wear boards shorts over full length (steamer) wetsuits. It’s pointless. Take note wakeboards and kite surfers.
In summary a good wetsuit is one that fits your needs and keeps you in the water as long as you want to be.

Since Hi-Tec Sports released the Hi-Tec Magnum, the first tactical boot to be created using athletic shoe materials, back in 1982, Magnum Boots has become a household name among those who render service in law-enforcement, the military, and fire and rescue operations. Hi-Tec Sports created the Hi-Tec Magnum in response to requests from the FBI to create a tactical boot modeled after the Hi-Tec Sierra Lite hiking boot. Before this, Hi-Tec was better known for its squash shoes. All that changed when the first few pairs of the Hi-Tec Magnum were shipped to members of the FBI. Word quickly spread, which led to increased demand for a lightweight, comfortable and durable tactical boot.
The first Magnum tactical boot collection was launched in 1983. 18 years later, Magnum officially separated from Hi-Tec sports in order to focus on the growing industry of footwear designed for tactical and combat purposes. Today, Magnum Boots is a world-recognized leader in the tactical boot industry, providing high-performance footwear to trained officers in 80 countries.
A good soldier never rests on his or her laurels, and Magnum consistently updates, improves, and innovates in order to create the best possible tactical and combat shoes. Magnum incorporates new technologies into its boot designs in order to provide the wearer with the utmost in comfort, durability, and performance.
A typical Magnum boot has one or more of these features:
- Ortholite f.13 footbeds – These footbeds have been proven to retain 95% of cushioning and support after one year of use, whereas EVA foot beds only retain 30% after the same amount of time. Ortholite foot beds are lightweight, breathable, and wick moisture away from the feet, keeping the inside of the boots dry, comfortable, and hygienic. Ortholite footbeds contain anti-microbial properties, and are made from recycled rubber power, so you can rest easy knowing that you’re doing your bit to help the environment.
- Vibram Outsoles – Vibram’s moulded rubber outsoles are the industry standard in outdoor footwear. Vibram outsoles are high-performing, durable, and comfortable.
- Cambrelle Lining – Cambrelle lining is composed of bi-component fibers, which adapt to the wearer’s motion and the motion of the footwear while remaining abrasion-resistant. The movement of the fibers creates tiny pockets of air that circulate through the shoe, preventing bacteria buildup and wicking moisture away from the wick, while cushioning the foot.
- ion-mask™t Technology – Magnum has partnered with P21, the world leader in liquid-repellent nano technology, to create footwear coated with a permanent protective layer of ion-mask™. ion-mask™ is a plasma-based technology that was originally designed for use in the U.K. military. ion-mask™ changes the surface of the shoes at a molecular level, creating a nanometers-thin protective barrier that repels water and other liquids, including blood pathogens, oil, fuel, alcohol, and hazardous chemicals. Since the very thin layer of ion-mask™ layer bonds at a molecular level with the surface of the shoes including the seams and stitches, the shoes remain breathable and light-weight. Like the Ortholite foot beds, the solvent-free Ion-mask technology is environmentally-friendly.
- Superfabric – Some Magnum models feature Superfabric, which is designed specifically to resist physical damage to the outer shoe. The base fabric is overlaid with miniscule guard plates to provide a barrier against sharp or abrasive objects, and the pattern and spacing of the plates ensure that the fabric remains breathable and flexible. Some kinds of Superfabric offer more features: better grip, flame-resistance, and flexibility.
- Agion – The Scorpion boot and boots in Magnum’s Stealth Force line have all been treated with Agion, a silver-based compound which prevents and combats bacterial build-up. Agion is activated by heat and humidity: as both increase, more silver ions are released. Agion works against several types of bacteria and are designed to last as long as your Magnum boots do.
In addition, Magnum boots go through rigorous performance testing at SATRA Technology Centre, a world-recognized research and testing center. Over 20 styles of Magnum Boots footwear have already been certificated by SATRA, and three models in the Stealth footwear line have been SATRA-certified to comply with the health and safety requirements set forth in the Personal Protective Equipment Directive.
Many police officers, soldiers, rescue team members, and firefighters who have utilized the new review feature on the Magnum website agree that Magnum boots are far superior to other brands of tactical and combat shoes. Even Airsoft players, in need of a lightweight, comfortable pair of boots with performance soles, often opt to invest in a pair of Magnum boots instead of cheaper “gaming” shoes, hiking boots or generic brands of combat boots. Magnum boots, particularly those treated with ion-mask™, have also found their way onto the feet of medical personnel and hospital workers.
Far from compromising their integrity as makers of tactical boots worn only by highly-trained officers, Magnum Boots’ increasing consumer fan base made up of people from all walks of life only further attest to the effectiveness of its boots’ features. For its success in bridging the gap between the specialized uniform footwear industry and commercial performance footwear without sacrificing quality, Magnum Boots should be commended.

Offa’s Dyke Path is a 177 mile long National Trail that runs along the Welsh-English border. It was officially opened in Knighton by Lord Hunt in the summer of 1971. It has since become known as one of Britain’s best-loved long-distance footpaths.
Offa’s Dyke Path is named after Offa’s Dyke, a gigantic linear earthwork that is said to have been built on the orders of King Offa of Mercia in the 8th century. Offa’s Dyke runs through the English/Welsh borders, from Treuddyn to Sedbury Cliffs. The path itself follows, for about 60 miles, the remnants of the ancient dyke. Offa’s Dyke Path is the only National Trail that follows a man-made structure.
Walkers usually opt to walk the path from south to north, starting from the Severn Estuary at Sedbury and finishing the journey at the coastal town of Prestatyn on Liverpool Bay. The path tends to follow higher ground, which gives ramblers ample opportunity to view the lush surroundings. The path passes through different kinds of landscape, through the unspoilt Welsh Marches, high moors, floodplains, river valleys, and areas of ancient woodland. Offa’s Dyke Path passes through 80 different counties and crosses over the English/Welsh borders more than 20 times. The “switchback” area between Knighton and Brompton Crossroads, which runs for fifteen miles and requires ramblers to make numerous climbs and descents, is reputed to be the most difficult part of the hike. Other challenging portion of the path include going through the Black Mountains followed by the climb up and descent from Haterall Ridge, which is about 1000 feet high.
Depending on the weather and visibility as well as the overall physical fitness of the climber, finishing the entire path takes, on average, 14 days. The area is known for sudden changes of weather and unexpected rain, even during the height of summer, as well as several boggy patches, so a pair of waterproof four-season hiking boots such as the Scarpa SL BX M3 Boot would probably serve a rambler better than one or two-season hiking boots.
Offa’s Dyke Path also links together the Wye Valley, the Shropshire Hills, and the Clwydian Hills.

Reebok’s mission has always been to challenge and lead through creativity, and they set the bar for toning shoes with their Easytone line of trainers. Inspired by Swedish exercise balls, the kind you’ve probably seen at the gym, Reebok Easytone Trainers are specifically designed to strengthen and increase toning in key leg muscle areas: the calves, hamstrings, and glutes.
Each pair of Reebok Easytone trainers features Moving Air Technology – pockets of moving air causes a little natural instability, forcing the wearer to adopt correct posture, hold the stomach in, and engage more muscles during walking than one would wearing regular shoes. The Moving Air Technology pods on the soles were inspired by exercise balls, which tone and strengthen core muscles by forcing the user to remain balanced. Reebok Easytone trainers work in a similar way. At the same time, the soft pods simulate the feeling, and the effort, of walking on sand.
As part of the testing process for the Reebok Easytone, several women were asked to wear Reebok Easytone trainers while undergoing EMG testing. EMG (Electromyography) testing works by monitoring electrical muscle activity. The test showed that Reebok Easytone trainers provide 11% more muscle activation in the calves and hamstrings and 28 % more in the glutes when compared to average athletic shoes. The design and testing process was rigorous and thorough, with Bill McInnis, former NASA engineer and Reebok’s current Head of Advanced Innovation stating in an interview with Examiner.com that “”The shoes were sent out to non-Reebok people, to have them live and work in the shoe for 300 hours at a time.” The result? “Zero complaints.”
After one and a half years of designing and testing, Easytone trainers have broken into the toning shoe market, with MBT trainers and Skechers Shape-ups their closest competitors. People often choose Easytones over other brands of toning or health shoes for two reasons: one reason being that Reebok Easytone trainers are about $100 less expensive than the MBT shoe while promising greater results, and the other reason being that Easytones look just like regular running shoes, unlike other toning shoes that use large, clunky ”rocking” soles.
In a review of toning and functional shoes on the Daily Mail website, two members of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists, Emma Supple and Lorraine Jones, gave Reebok Easytone Trainers a score of 9/10. The reviewers also mentioned that the Reebok Easytone trainer tested “… is breathable and provides arch support. The cushioning reduces the impact of the foot when you run.”
Some of those who bought Easytone trainers and posted reviews reported getting relief from back pain by replacing their ordinary trainers with Easytone trainers.
It’s important to note that the Reebok Easytone trainers are not athletic shoes that miraculously cause the wearer to lose weight. The shoes are designed to complement an active lifestyle, simply by amplifying the health benefits that you would get from walking. If you’re on your feet all the time, or if you are planning to make long walks part of your daily routine, you would be able to better maximize the potential of Reebok Easytone trainers.

Merrell boot wearers may soon be able to walk in more areas of north Wales with special environmental protection after the Countryside Council of Wales (CCW) recommended the extension of the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
The decision will go to the Welsh assembly in Cardiff, where environment minister Jane Davidson will have the final say.
It could mean the Dee Valley and Llangollen being added to the area, although there is opposition to the proposal from the National Farmers’ Union (NFU).
However, chairman of the CCW Morgan Parry argued the extension”would not bring new restrictions on agricultural activities” in the areas concerned.
The CCW also said it has consulted extensively with the public and noted the AONB plan has the support of Denbighshire and Wrexham County Borough councils.
Stretching for 35 miles across north Wales, the range is one of eight protected areas in Wales and walkers seeking its highest point can find it on Moel Famau, at 554 m (1,817 ft).
Do you think the AONB should be extended?

A “Berlin Wall” will be constructed across the Scottish Highlands if a new road plan is allowed to pass in its current form, it has been claimed, something that may concern Merrell barefoot wearers.
Such a comment was made by Convenor of Ramblers Scotland Dennis Canavan as he objected to part of the plans to widen the A9 trunk road at Crubenmore between Dalwhinnie and Newtownmore.
The work would see the public right of way of General Wade’s Military Road ended with steel barriers erected across it, with no bridge or underpass planned to enable walkers to cross the dual carriageway safely.
Mr Canavan said this would mean creating a diversion of eight miles and called on first minister Alex Salmond to join him and the local Rambler’s group on a walk at the site to see the problem and then intervene to resolve it.
Crubenmore is in the Cairngorms National Park and the part of the A9 within the national park boundaries lies close to several Munros, such as Carn na Caim, A’ Bhuidenhach Beag and Meall Chuaich.
How do you think the A9 situation should be resolved?

Take a page from author and hill-walker Alfred Wainwright’s book – literally – and traverse one of the best long-distance footpaths in the UK to experience a challenging hike that spans what some say are the most beautiful landscapes in Northern England.
The Coast to Coast Walk (term coined by Wainwright in his book “A Coast to Coast walk, published in 1973) is an unwaymarked trail that runs for 192 miles across three different national parks: the Lake District National Park, the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and the North York Moors National Park.
The original route outlined in Wainwright’s book is no longer followed. Environmental changes, increased human traffic, and soil erosion have led to Wainwright’s book being revised several times. However, as in the original, the trail starts from the west and ends in the east: the Coast to Coast walk still starts at St. Bees in West Cumbria, and ends on the North Sea coast, in Robin Hood’s Bay.
The current route of the Coast to Coast walk starts in West Cumbria, where one can follow the path along the coastline of the Irish sea, before heading east into Lake District National Park. The mountains look deceptively easy as they are not very high but the footpaths can be tricky for beginners, so it’s best to wear walking or hiking shoes with good grip. Upon entering Lake District National Park, one will be rewarded with a stunning view of the surrounding mountains and lake.
The Coast to Coast Walk will challenge hill walkers and ramblers by having them walk on different types of terrain. The hills in the Lake District are quite steep and the paths often rocky, but the farmland, moors and limestone plateaus can conceivably be traversed by beginners. The entire route takes around ten to fourteen days to complete, but the trail may be completed in sections.
Before attempting the Coast to Coast walk, make sure to bring, along with the usual necessities and survival pack, a good guidebook, a map, and a dependable pair of walking or hiking boots that offers good traction and support. The Scarpa Kailash GTX boot offers comfort, support, breathability, and durability as well as great traction with its Hi Trail lite sole. The Scarpa Kailash GTX boot is designed specifically for the rigours of long-distance trail walking on rugged terrain, and the Gore-Tex lining guarantees your feet stay dry even when the weather turns foul or if, as Wainwright has famously suggested, you’re tempted to dip your booted feet in the Irish Sea at St. Bees at the start of your journey.

From June 1st, it will be illegal to pitch a wild camp or drink by the eastern shore of Loch Lomond, the Scottish Government has confirmed.
Boot wearers, walking the West Highland Way may be among the beneficiaries of the move, which is aimed at curbing anti-social behaviour in the area and ensuring law-abiding visitors are not unduly disturbed.
As well as stating there will be a restriction on camping to designated areas only between March and October each year, the Holyrood administration also announced it was permitting Stirling Council to introduce the alcohol ban.
Concern has centred on a stretch of the east bank between Drymen and Rowardennan, which has been patrolled by police amid worries about the way some visitors have behaved.
As well as being on the West Highland Way route, the east bank of Loch Lomond offers access to Ben Lomond, the southernmost of Scotland’s 283 Munros.

The Scarpa Epic is a lightweight trail-running, approach, and all-rounder shoe hybrid suitable for use in light climbing, backpacking, and long-distance hiking.
Since its release in 2010, the Scarpa Epic has earned numerous rave reviews, from outdoor magazines like Gear.com and Outdoors Magic and user-run outdoor and climbing blogs alike.
The reviewer at Gear.com approved of the customized feel of the shoe fit, and liked how the webbing within the Epic are capable of accommodating “multiple sizes of feet.” Gear.com tested the Scarpa Epic in wet conditions and found that the dual-density molded EVA soles combined with Trail Speed technology guaranteed a firm footing even on muddy and wet terrain. After submersion in water, the Scarpa Epic dried after approximately 20 minutes.
The reviewer at Outdoors Magic gave the Scarpa Epic a score of 4.5 stars out of 5, and praised the soles in particular for providing a good balance between stability and cushioning. The reviewer also noted the breathability of the nylon mesh and the great fit.
Climbing.com praised the Epic’s Trail-Speed with sticky rubber feature, the Active Rand Technology which adapts to foot movement while loading and unloading body weight, and durable grid stitching that ensures that the perfect fit stays perfect throughout the lifetime of the shoe.
The Scarpa Epic features Armour-Lite treatment on the toes, and protective heel caps, the combination of which provide increased durability and protection from sharp rocks , rubble and other potentially abrasive mountain debris. A reinforced Trail Plate insert adds stability to the entire shoe, the ribcage design wraps around the midfoot for a better, more customized fit, and the dual-density compression EVA mid soles make the shoes suitable for use on all terrains. Trail-Speed with sticky rubber provides improved grip even on wet rocks and muddy terrain and is excellent for outdoor activities that require plenty of toe hooking.

Merrell footwear users who like to spot a bit of wildlife when out in the countryside may be interested in seeing some mountain hares in the Peak District this month.
A guided walk run by national park rangers takes place on March 19th, covering eight miles of upland around Edale, with the trek being described as suitable for “experienced walkers”.
Starting at the Moorland Centre in the village, the event starts at 10:45 BST and continues until 16:00 BST.
The Arctic hare lives in the area and the day will be spent trying to spot specimens, with the authority noting good footwear, outdoor clothing and some food and drink for the day will all be essential.
Other tough walks being run in the national park include a circular route out of Glossop and over Chunal Moor on March 20th, which then crosses the Snake Pass and reaches the 2,021 ft highpoint of Higher Shelf stones before returning to the town below.
What animals do you like to spot in the countryside?

A sister site to the existing UKclimbing.com, the new UKhillwalking.com is designed to offer both information to people planning climbs and a chance to interact with other walkers about various routes, hills and other relevant information.
The site will also be a forum for debate and UK Climbing noted this includes discussing the best boots, something Keen footwear users may be happy to get involved with.
And there will be a chance for people to plan their routes and also log their ascents, the latter being very important for those trying to complete tick lists, be they the Munros, Marilyns, Wainwrights or Donalds, with over 3,000 summits listed in all.
The largest of all the tick lists is the Marilyns with 1,551 relative hills in the British Isles – defined by a drop height of 150 metres on all sides.
One of the more unusual is a spot height in the Sussex town of Crowborough, a contrast with the high mountains making up some of the list.

Cat Footwear is the global footwear licensee of Caterpillar Inc, the company that manufactures heavy, earth-shaking, and landscape-changing machinery. Like its mother company, Cat Footwear is synonymous with strength and durability and is recognized for successfully living up to its mother company’s motto, “Earthmoving solutions for today’s challenges,” by designing, and manufacturing practical, long-lasting footwear solutions time and time again.
The Caterpillar Colorado Boot is a classic Caterpillar work boot: rugged, hard-wearing, durable and comfortable. The Colorado boot features high-wicking nylon mesh lining and a water-resistant EVA sock liner, which work in tandem to move moisture away from the skin and helps it evaporate quickly, resulting in comfortable wear no matter what the weather conditions are. The cushioned insole and padded ankle guard ensures a comfortable fit, and the slip and oil-resistant Techni-flex Goodyear welted rubber out sole guarantees firm footing in mud, snow, or rain.
Despite the absence of steel toe caps in this model, the sturdy construction of these work boots offers ample protection, whether for outdoor work or for walks in the country side. If you’re particular about the outer appearance of your work boots, the Caterpillar Colorado boot should be cleaned using commercially-available suede cleaners or brushes, or just a bit of sandpaper or a regular pencil eraser to loosen encrusted dirt. A good, commercial suede protector spray will also help prevent stains from setting. The Nubuck leather uppers require more care then regular full-grain leather boots, but the Nubuck gives the Colorado Boot a dressier look than regular leather Caterpillar boots, making them suitable for casual wear and for the office and not just at the work site.
If you need a pair of boots that would see you safely through years of hard work without sacrificing style and comfort, the Caterpillar’s Colorado Boot is a great option. At only £80.99, it’s far less expensive than boots from other manufacturers, but with better features and customer-proven quality.

The wearing of shoes that don’t fit properly can lead to a laundry list of foot problems later in life. These problems can be caused by something as simple as shoes that are too small or don’t fit well. Birkenstocks sandals can help correct common foot problems, and they have become the go-to sandals of people plagued with foot problems
The Birkenstock Arizona is a popular, classic Birkenstock two-strap sandal design, with uppers available in suede, leather, or Birko Flor, which was developed by Birkenstock as an alternative to leather. The straps are adjustable, a feature that’s useful to those whose feet sometimes swell. The Birkenstock Arizona sandal offers comfortable arch support, by way of its contoured and cushioned cork and latex foot bed. The foot bed molds itself into the shape of your foot over time, so the more you wear your Arizona sandals, the comfier they get. The deep heel cup and the wide toe box helps ease your feet back into a normal shape, and combined with the contoured foot bed, they distribute the weight of the body evenly over your entire feet. The two-strap design of the Birkenstock Arizona sandal allows feet to breathe, which helps prevent bacterial and fungal infections from forming. The sandals feature textured, shock-absorbing EVA soles for a better walking experience.
People who have bought and worn Birkenstock Arizona sandals tend to keep them for several years, partly because they’re incredibly comfortable, and partly because they’re so durable that they remain in good condition for far longer than their inexpensive counterparts. If taken good care of, your Birkenstock Arizona sandals should last you for years yet. If your Arizona sandals should need repair, you may find it helpful to know that nearly all parts of the sandals are replaceable and repairable, from the soles to the straps.
Some people who bought Birkenstock Arizona sandals initially complained of discomfort while wearing the shoes. Initially, when your feet have yet to become used to the contours of the foot bed, there may be some discomfort, as all new shoes require some “breaking in” and the curves of the foot bed may take some getting used to, especially for those with fallen arches. Wearing your Arizona sandals for a while indoors will help your feet to get used to the contoured foot bed and learn to grip it instead of relying on the straps for support and stability.
When ordering Arizona sandals, or indeed, any brand of sandals, make sure you get a pair that fits you perfectly. Even orthopedic shoes can harm your feet if they don’t fit right. The sizing of Birkenstock sandals is often larger than the sizing of other sandal brands, so you may want to go a half size smaller. If there are a few millimeters of space between your toes and heels and the edges of the sandals, then you’ve got the right size sandals.
Birkenstock prides itself on creating high-quality, long-lasting and comfortable footwear that helps undo the damage ill-fitting shoes may have done to your feet. The classic style and timeless appeal of the Birkenstock Arizona sandal coupled with the benefits of the trademark Birkenstock contoured foot bed may make the Birkenstock Arizona sandals your most worthwhile footwear investment yet.

TV presenter Julia Bradbury may soon be taking a break from walking after revealing she is pregnant.
Dubliner Bradbury – who presents the BBC Countryfile programme – as well as a series on Alfred Wainwright’s walks in the Lake District – has revealed she is expecting a little one with partner Gerald Cunningham.
She said it was a “bit of a miracle”, as she suffers from endometriosis, a medical condition that can cause infertility.
Ms Bradbury is expecting the child in August and this may lead to her hanging up her boots for a while.
However, it may also be that Bradbury junior will follow suit by learning to walk – and then starting on the hills.
Julia Bradbury is president of the Ramblers, having been elected to this position in April 2010.
She responded to the invitation to take the post by saying her mission was a “simple” one – to “get Britain on its feet” and enjoying the 1,300 miles of footpath the country has.
